In a context of cooperation and complimentarity of services, the nine educational institutions of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region have combined their expertise to offer uniform recognition of prior learning and competencies services. The regional services consist of four school boards (Commission scolaire des Rives-du-Saguenay, Commission scolaire De La Jonquière, Commission scolaire du Lac-Saint-Jean, Commission scolaire du Pays-des-Bleuets), four CEGEPs (Cégep de Chicoutimi, Cégep de Jonquière, Collège d’Alma, Cégep de Saint-Félicien), as well as Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. The consortium is committed to developing and implementing an inter-level model of regional recognition of prior learning and competencies services in order to improve the services offered to the public, in collaboration with the regional office of the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS).

Each educational institution has an entry point to the recognition of prior learning and competencies services. Their counselors are available to respond to different needs. Additionally, there is a regional services project leader who ensures the coordination of regional activities. Thus, each person, each organization and company that wishes to obtain information on recognition of prior learning and competencies services will know who to contact. This organization model in recognition of prior learning and competencies in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean facilitates the coordination of RPLC activities. It allows the adults in our region to obtain services that are centered around their needs, accessible and close to their home.
