The Montréal region has a population of roughly two million, which represents 25 per cent of Québec’s total population. With its renowned dynamic economy and culture, there is a very cosmopolitan feeling to the city. More than 120 communities from immigrant backgrounds represent 30 per cent of the population of the Island of Montreal.

Five school boards (three French and two English) offer over 100 vocational training programs in 27 secondary education institutions and 12 public colleges (including three English), with roughly 90 technical training and general education programs.

In 2005, the five school boards came together to develop the Service d’évaluation et de reconnaissance des acquis et des competences de l’Île de Montréal (SERACIM) to better serve the qualification and vocational training needs of different adult clients.

In the same perspective, to better respond to requests for recognition in general education and vocational training, 12 public colleges created the Centre collégial de reconnaissance des acquis et des compétences. Forging partnerships required for their services is important to the centre, in order to help the colleges develop their activities.

  • For all questions, please contact the Service d’évaluation et de reconnaissance des acquis et des compétences de l’Île de Montréal (SERACIM) at the following address: 1111, rue Berri, close to the Berri-UQAM metro station, or by phone at:  514-350-8052.

To apply for recognition of prior learning and competencies services, you must make an appointment to attend one of the information meetings.
